As for PewDiePie – His repeated defense that he is no racist crumbles since I myself don’t think of the N’ word or the F’ (fag) word when I get frustrated during my gaming sessions. Something in his head triggers these racist slurs and Mr Felix should go to a shrink and find out what that is instead of ignoring or lying to himself about them.
you realise people freaking out at words is the only reason the word means anything. so if people would chill the fuck out and stop bursting into angry tears every time a mean word is said aloud then there’d be LESS racism in the world because you’d be taking power away from the racists. I find it hilarious that people think the “N word” is racist. I grew up downriver where literally everyone, regardless of skin color or ethnicity, uses the word as a synonym for ‘person’ or ‘buddy’. It held no racial connotations at all. It was only when I moved away to uni that white people started telling me that it was racist and I had to work to stop saying it out of habit.
Basically, context is important. If Pewd used it as a swear word, that’s not cool and is pretty inappropriate. You could even say he was disregarding the general age of his audience, but I personally believe that’s the problem of the parents. But (not having heard the rant) I don’t think he was being racist. If it wasn’t directed at a black person, then he just used it as an explative to express anger. It’s still shitty he’d lump it in with other swears, but not racist.
