Breath of the wild doesn’t deserve that title.
Breath of the Wild wouldn’t be here without OoT which introduced Gorons, Gerudo, and the OoT Zoras (water enemies in the LoZ and ALttP)
Ocarina of Time will forever hold that title.

@Morkdonalds ill say OoT is probably more innovative and .. you know all that. But like there’s a case that BOTW could be the best zelda game since like- you know, it certainly has better graphics, actual voice acting, and a LOT more stuff to do. Like I’m 300 hours in and still have like 3 more shrines to go (dont get me started on koroks).
Best Zelda game of it’s time? DEFINITELY Ocarina of Time.
But just by itself…? I mean .. I’d argue Breath of the Wild. It literally doesn’t block you from doing anything. Like you can beat the great plateau and then go and fight ganon right then… if you wanted.
Now OBVIOUSLY OoT beats BOTW in music and story, and I’m not afraid to say that. I’ve beaten both games, and OoT is way more innovative then the “open world,” but man BOTW gives you SO MUCH freedom..
