Loot boxes have some to Forza Motorsport, and you better believe Microsoft found a way to make them utterly pathetic.
Forza 7 is another game proving, categorically, that the “AAA” game industry does remove things from games to sell back to you.
If not directly, then definitely historically.
I, for one, will NOT support it any more. I will vote with my wallet. The ONLY way they will understand. Lets be honest, shadow of war will be $5 in a few months anyways, i can be patient no WAY do i need to pay $60. Fuck dlc. Fuck lootboxes hardcore. With soo many games to choose from i will take my business elsewhere.

I have seen so many videos about this thing from you Jim and I understand what you are saying. HOWEVER all these things are really optional. So just don’t buy them. Unfortunately some people have a lot of money so they like these things and they buy them. Developers see this and they add this thing to more and more games. Sad but true.
Its funny. You nailed this, but there is a lot more to it. You missed cars hidden behind the loot box rng wall. Thats pretty huge. And homologation. And vip bait and switch. Turn 10s behavior here is atrocious.

See this is why I haven’t bought a game with loot-boxes yet. Just don’t support these shitty business practices and they’ll stop
Jims right that this crud has been in the Forza series for a good while. The first horizon had a free DLC that gave youa series of challenges to do. Things like “drift car x a certain distance” or “win race y in car z” or whatever. Thing was that you didn”t get the reward just for doing a single one of these. Instead they were arbitrarily grouped into blocks of five which paid out when you completed the set. The twist? Every single set of challenges had at least one that required you to purchase a paid DLC car. Every single one. The “free” DLC was completely worthless to you if you werent willing to open your wallet.
So tldr I am not in the least bit surprised to be seeing this shit now and it surprises me it came this late.
Its not bad to pirate shitty microtransaction laden games. If you want to play it that badly, just remember that.
This is how the market will crash. Keep on greeding on, companies. You’ll be silenced when majority of our wallets are shut tight.
