Lidar stands for Light Detection and Ranging, it’s a remote sensing method that involves moving a pulsing laser pointed at the ground in a straight line (with a plane, drone, satellite, or boat) and measuring how long it takes to return to the source, creating a depth (or elevation if values are reversed) point map. I’ve worked with lidar data for a class!

i don’t know if you particularly appreciate game recommendations, but considering you liked the concept of lidar, i think you might like the unfinished swan? it’s not a horror game (though it did make me wildly uneasy personally, at least at first — fear of the unknown i think) but it is Very good. not specifically a rec for the channel, just think you might enjoy the game. it’s by the same people who made what remains of edith finch & is technically the story of one of the characters in that game, actually, but can be enjoyed completely separately just fine
There’s a different Lidar game on steam that’s so much better that’s also vr!!!
