Square Enix Can’t Stop Being Terrible (The Jimquisition)

Yes, we have to talk about Square Enix again. They shut down ANOTHER game after just 13 months, and their scummy president has doubled down on NFT and crypto horribleness. Also, I have a Godzilla pinball table.

  1. “That’s a lot of fish.” Is actually an important line in our family believe it or not. My sister and dad are always quoting shows and movies we love at each other, including bad movies that are featured in MST3k and Rifftrax. The night after a live Rifftrax riffing of Godzilla (the pinball one) my father suffered a mild heart attack. I raced to the hospital, down to his room, held his hand, and asked, “Dad! Dad! Are you okay?!” He looked up at me and weakly declared, “….th-that’s a lot of FISH.” Before smiling. I knew he’d make it and he did!

  2. So my friends and I decided to try and turn Square Enix screw ups into a drinking game. Do not do that, I repeat do not do that, the morning after is pure hell.

  3. If only we could find the crypto and NFT servers and unleash an EMP against them.

  4. Very disappointing but not surprising. The crypto/NFT commitment seems bizarre. I feel like the company has to have lost money given what happened last year. Why lean into it? Sunk cost fallacy, maybe.

  5. All of this shit is because they’re trying to reproduce the success they had with things like Brave Exvius and (trying not to vomit sound) War of the Lions. I saw BE go from a decent-ish (I’m trying to justify that I did spend money on that, sorry, guilt and all that) money grab to they’re clawing every cent they can out of it now without shame in the last few years, especially with their PREMIUM (imagine it in Stephany’s voice) characters that have a stupidly high cost and need ridi- Sorry. Quit that game years ago because they make me rant so much.
But their sheer greed is just driving them to even greater excess and hopefully is driving away those that give a shit about what they do.

  6. The blblblblb bit actually made me laugh out loud, well done

  7. Good work!!! Laughed my ass off

  8. I love your hair

  9. Game CEOs like: “wow, with AI art, we won’t have to pay real human artists!”
Game CEOs, 5 minutes later: “you can buy NFTs of our exclusive AI art with this new in-game currency and then trade it for crypto if you’ve bought a subscription to our in-game crypto marketplace!”
Game CEOs, 6 months later: “we’re shutting down our in-game crypto marketplace”

  10. 9:18 I have mix feelings about NFTs, they are working for what is intended is extremely good for artist and 3A companies have destroy the concept and make it an scam for a lot of users.

Also play to earn is something else, I mean if you are playing a GREAT game like Hades or Synthetik and you get money for it, it doesnt sound bad… On the other hand I play Videogames to have fun not to work.

  11. Yes, because clearly it’s what the business people in board rooms are parroting that matters, not the market’s opinions or interests./S
The arrogance of executives never ceases to infuriate.

  12. Not until now did I remember the microtransactions in the original Bravely Default. For potions that you gain from putting your 3DS into sleep mode.

  13. wait are you implying that your urine is flammable?
