Sony Took Down A Shameless Rip-Off Of The Last Of Us On The Switch? (The Jimquisition)

The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival, that terrible asset flip masquerading as plagiarism of The Last of Us, has been removed from the Nintendo Switch eShop amid copyright claims from Sony. Firstly, LOL! Secondly, grrrrrr!

So, there’s a reason I’m kind of annoyed at it, and it’s that an accusation of copyright infringement is almost a compliment to a game this lazy and deceptive. Let’s talk about why.

  1. I am everlastingly AMAZED at the continued exodus of subscribers from this channel, and moreso in how they seem to be DRIPPING away. Wasn’t the “Under 800k Special,” like, four months ago? And we’re only down to 778K? I’m not sure which way to be shocked.

I could be shocked in so far as the sub count ONLY dropped 22k in that time, but no; I’m shocked that there were 22k subscribers left – after that 800k point – to drop.

What are you fools doing here, still? James Stephanie Sterling has not given any indication that they are going to CHANGE. They’ve only shown nothing but disdain for the insipid philosophies espoused by any who would leave based purely on their orientation. What accounts for this continued bleeding, then?

Ah! Perish the thought, but – is it the politics?

Baby-dolls, if you DON’T have a problem with our Cambellian Heroinx’ great struggle, then why in the loving fuck would you leave?

If you don’t have a problem . . . then how can you not see the truth in everything else?

I am – and I do not use this word lightly – chagrinned by this.

  2. ngl, being prompted to press the E-key while playing on the switch is somehow really funny to me. Too bad that there wasnt any subversive humor or point/thought in general behind it in this case

  3. why isn’t jonathan running a literal cock fighting tounament?

  4. “Metagaming fraud” is an amazing turn of phrase.

  5. For a much higher quality version of this bait and switch marketing ploy, see Genshin Impact essentially selling itself as a gacha Breath of the Wild clone when it’s actually far closer to sometime like Horizon: Zero Dawn/Forbidden West or an Open World Ys game.

Hell, I’d argue that it’s basically what you would get if you smooshed together every one of Nihon Falcom’s (the developers of the Ys games) main series into one IP.

  6. It doesn’t have to have competent game play to infringe on copyright. The name, advertising and design of the Ellie clone are all obvious copyright issues.

  7. This is too fcking funny.
Oh, and I paused the video on Chun-Li’s panties, there you have it. 😐

  8. just for the luls i would love someone defending that “thing” in court against sony just to prove the point XD . or maybe sony think their game is so carbage that it is really a copy?XD

side note i love what i heard about the CEO of Larian of BG3 saying that he don t want to sell the studio to microsoft because he is worriered that a monolithic corporate owner like microsoft could end up limiting the studio creativity in the pursuit of profit. and that he prefer to be the one making the call than some distant corporate overlord that would prioritize efficiency and profit above all.

  9. Reminds me of Blue Stinger on Dreamcast

  10. TitaniumTeddyBear

It should have been taken off for fraud, not plagiarism.

  11. “YOU DEAD!”😂

  12. I just noticed your top hat has a top hat. Keep it going… Endless top hats.

  13. so they did for stamina what Resident Evil did for bullets, got it

  14. Hugging my blåhaj while watching Steph hugging their blåhaj yeeeeeeee

  15. 18:40 I can’t believe you would say something so awful, I’m unsubscribing..

  16. Great vid as always! Very much enjoyed seeing the ‘fun fun fun’ montage again.

  17. Hope the infection clears up soon

  18. I got two issues: Does the Switch store include sreenshots in the games they sell? One look at those, and you’d know there was no way this was even half decent. Also, wouldn’t it make more sense that “not at all Ellie” was the protagonists mother? That would actually make the timetravel gimmick at least half way interesting.

  19. The promotional art is definitely copyright infringement. You could argue that the Ellie replacement is as well. Otherwise, I’d agree that it mostly isn’t infringing copyright.

  20. I saw ur video, saw Sony took it down a few days later and immediately attributed it to you. Good job!
