The music in this stage is awful, doesn’t suit the feel of it at all. Why does it have to have that Megadrive/Genesis sound font. It suits the classics, but not a visually 3D environment, makes it feel empty somehow. Also, its like a tempo that doesn’t match the gameplay remotely. Is it just me, or have Sonic Team just become lazier, and it takes indie developers to pick the franchise back up again. Musically, Tee Lopes has redefined what classic Sonic should sound like, and to that end, they should just get him involved for the classic Sonic stages. Hate to complain, but I thought we’d be getting something better by now. But seems like Sega just repeating past mistakes, or not even trying anymore. I hope I’m wrong, because I truly am a long time Sonic fan, and I want him to succeed, but i can already see the reviews.
I’ll clarify by saying I’m not just having a go at the music used here, (somebody at Sega, a professional musician supposedly, made this track, I’ve seen better from fans at this point) but the whole package, recycled assets from a game made in 2011, Green Hill zone, again!!! And just the general lack of any regard for pushing the series in a different, more imaginative direction. If things change, great, but from what I’ve seen so far from Forces, it’s same old same old.

Dafuq is this music?! HOW?!
It looks so stiff, Sonic stops almost instantly, badniks kill all momentum in the air, his speed snaps back to his leisurely jog after a spindash or any other speed up of sorts.
Its ugly to watch really.
Alright seriously, fuck everyone in the comments who is complaining and nitpicking every little thing in this gameplay showcase. You guys wanted classic Sonic to make a return and the bring him back in Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces and all of you fuckers continue to complain. Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces are still in development and you guys keep making false assumptions that Sonic Forces is gonna be bad??? Sega is doing everything they can to fulfill your wishes on what you all want in Sonic games and they bring it to you and you still complain, seriously you guys just don’t know what the fuck you want in a Sonic game which brings Sega much confusion. I honestly can’t stand all the negative comments on this little bit of gameplay and I wish all of you nitpickers stop complaining and be grateful and what is being shown here. Jeez you guys are so pitiful. With that said, Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces are gonna be fantastic and great job Sega and Sonic Team

This is kind of embarrassing when Sonic Mania exists. Sega should let people who actually know what they are doing handle 2D Sonic, and focus solely on 3D for this game.

Back at it again with the Green Hill!
I liked the Modern Part but the Classic Part looks not so good.
I dont like the music.
I dont like the physics there. I mean, he is full speed and in only 1 second he is slowed down very hard.
Also it doesnt looks like the classic gameplay. Its linear and there arent a lot of different ways.
My thoughts:
Modern Gameplay great, great music
Classic Gameplay bad, bad music, bad physics and also the graphic doesnt look good at all…
Take this as constructive critisism, i hope somebody at sega takes notice:
The modern gameplay reveal for Forces was great. We’ve seen the “burning city” level before but not to that detail. The level itself told a story through impressive visuals and set pieces. Falling debris, destroyed buildings and bridges, massive robots in the background etc.
Cut to classic sonic which is a total snooze fest. I love green hill zone, to me its sonic’s home. And if robotnik is supposidly destroying it..show it. It looks like green hill suffered a dry heatwave, not that its in danger. Where are the earthquakes, totem poles being destroyed, flickys and woodland creatures being captured by eggpawns?? Its just a very barebones level in terms of design and story telling.
Its not even may so theres plenty of time to improve, i just want an amazing sonic game.

Why is everyone tearing this game to bits? You’re all berating a game that not only is still in HEAVY development, but also just simply a SHOWCASE?
This is honestly why I hate most of the supposed “Fan base” for Sonic. You NEVER are satisfied with ANYTHING SEGA has released over the years. Yes, I agree. Green Hill is kind of over used. I get that. But that is no reason to hate on something that isn’t anywhere near done.
This is simply to show us what the Hedgehog engine is capable of. This I can assure you will not be the final level design since it as you all say, it’s slow. Sonic goes FAST.
Like. Good lord. Can’t anyone give SEGA a break? They’re giving us Mania, and Sonic Forces for crying out loud.
If you don’t like it. Don’t buy it. If you hate it. That’s your opinion. But don’t try and make everyone cater to your opinion.
Can’t we all just be fans and enjoy the games? Rather than find EVERY reason to hate on them?

The only people who wanted this stage back were blinded by nostalgia. If they love Green Hill so much, then why don’t they just replay the old games and go back to the past?! Sega, just stop remaking Green Hill Zone over and over again! Return Sandopolis Zone, Angel Island Zone, or make a completely new zone!
