How do people feel about “Passive Progressive”, a term coined by Red Letter Media? It feels pretty appropriate for when stuff tries to be progressive but too cowardly to commit to it (such as the latest ghostbusters movie having a “squint and you’ll see it” romance between the main girl and a ghost).
But while I do feel like RLM can funny and pretty smart, they can be pretty bad when it comes to discussing diversity and marginalized people. It may feel like expecting too much from a group of nerdy middle aged white guys, but the We Hate Movies podcast does handle this sort of thing much better by being humble about how they’re not experts in the subject of marginalized people but are willing to educate themselves about it.
at this point the evolution of “lee” is a whole subplot that I wait for with anticipation :D.

Ugh, recently had to tear I to a virtue signaller on FB for spewing the ‘violent trans people in women’s sports’ smear. When called on it, he bragged about having so many trans friends who happened to agree that ‘violence is bad’…🤢🤮🙄
So I imagine to most people who use the term “virtue signalling”, the list at 1:40 and the company statement at 3:52 look more or less equally sincere
