Fallout 76 Gets More Non-Cosmetic Microtransactions For Its Cosmetic Store

Fallout 76 is getting another non–cosmetic item for its premium store. The same premium store that Bethesda defended as a mere seller of “cosmetic” items.

Scrap Kits will join Repair Kits as yet another convenience Bethesda is selling at a premium. Yet another solution to a problem the company created.

Lugging junk around the world to find a workstation to scrap it at is a pain in the hole for a game in which collecting and scrapping junk is the point.

The whole “time saver” and “convenience” angle many microtransactions take is a total con. Their pettiness lets people ignore them, but make no mistake – it’s a scam.

  1. Reuploaded to fix a little mistake. I made it sound like there was no option to scrap all junk *at all* in the game. Redid that bit to make it clearer and avoid misleading anyone.

  2. Thanks for the constant uploads and work you put in, Jim. Your vidyas are entertaining and informative for me.

  3. Too bad Bethesda couldn’t reupload Fallout 76 and fix everything wrong with the game.

  4. Just imagine if Bethesda had the balls Jim does to admit something they created was misleading and fixing it?

  5. Guess i’ll type it again then:

    What happened to loyalty Todd?

  6. *BEFORE:* Poor design has no place in our games *AFTER:* Poor design is the only reason to build a game, because we can sell the solution.

  7. This is why I never pre-order games. Before F76, I loved Bethesda. Nothing is sacred. Don’t support pre-order models.

  8. Honestly, Bethesda should just take Fallout 76 round the back and put a bullet in it’s buggy and broken brain. The game has gone rabid now. It needs to be put out of it’s misery.

  9. Jim patches his FO76 video faster than Bethesda patches the game.

  10. We need a ”Oooh Bethesda *puke*” intro by now

  11. It’s funny how game companies think people like Jim are the problem .

  12. To me, when developers say that they want players to save time by buying their microtransactions, it sounds like they’re saying that playing their game is nothing but a chore instead of entertaining. Which it is a lot of the time.

  13. You missed another key point Jim, two actually. First scrap kits are even worse than repair kits because you can’t even earn them in game at all. Sure the epic repair kits or what ever were super rare drops and nearly impossible to get, but they existed. Scrap kits have no means if earning them in game other than Atoms. Which is another thing the newest patch apparently changed, it removed a lot of the early game challenges that paid players Atoms as a reward and instead gave them some junk items.

But on top of all that they reworked the store to give Repair kits and Scrap kits their own section of the atomic shop now, meaning a lot more is on the way.

  14. step 1: create problem
step 2: sell solution to said problem
    step 3: profit

  15. best “time saver” in this game is to not fucking play it to begin with.
