  1. I’m really diggin’ this visually, but the combat looks a bit lackluster. I’d wager a good chunk of that is because there’s not always a whole lot of visual feedback. The game is still a ways off, so I’m guessing a lot of this will be added/changed anyway, but personally I’d make the whips motion trail more pronounced and linger, have noticeably more blood and/or other hit effects, and up the freeze frames. Maybe a bit of screen shake for good measure. Right now the whip just doesn’t look like it’s really hitting anything.

    I’m sure Gunfire Games knows all that though. For how early in development this is, it’s looking really good. Then again, maybe I’m just not cynical enough for YouTube.

  2. there are a lot of people complaining already, when they should instead be thanking the lord that the darksiders franchise is being revived, i never thought i would see a sequel to one of my favorite gaming franchises!

  3. I know this is Alpha, but having the game’s improvement in mind here is my criticism:

    1. Visuals look great, and ambience is also good…pretty faithful to the first ones.
    Although personally i’d like if Fury looked a bit less like a Drag Queen.

    2. Combat is lackluster:
    – Whip lacks “oomph”, i’d suggest adding some sweet SFX and VFX;
    – It’d be nice to have the whip maybe grapple to enemies as well (Like the Reveal trailer, where Fury grapples the enemy’s axe and hits him with it)…also, more interesting combos.
    – I assume this is in the works, but missed the “Finishers” (which im having high expectations :P)

    3. Death animations were all alike, it’d be cool if, for example, they fall towards where you hit them etc

    1)Good graphics
    2)Unique character designs
    3)Good level design

    Cons (aka things they need to fix)
    1)kinda slow movement
    2)mediocre camera mechanics
    3)very short range of weapon and can’t hit multiple enemies

    Things they kinda copied
    1) Gabriel’s combat cross (Castlevania Lords of Shadow)
    2) Sloth, lord of the flies has very similar moves compared to Asylum Demon (Dark Souls)

  5. If anyone of the developers reads this please change her model back to the original. The original had a better color scheme and face. The original was also more magic/curse oriented and had an ethereal grace.

    This one looks nothing like Fury and body language wise looks like a brute. If this is still early development her design can still be saved.

  7. I feel like the combat can be polished up a bit more. Like you should be able to finish off your enemies with a finishing move like in the first one

    War:Wields chaos eaters,sword forged by the council which holds the power of chaos

    Death:wields duel scythes for maximum combo damage and nonstop onslaught.

    Fury:hits enemies with what appears to be a wet pool noodle

  11. I think the problem with this game is the people about to play it. People will complain about anything. The whip probably gets longer and changes or sth as u progresses. It’s pre-alpha they can’t show everyhthing.

    I don’t know…. They should look at the combat system of Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. Loved how Gabriel Belmont fought in that game.

  13. Make her Whip lot longer and give it SMASH powers! So you see the power of the horsemen which is supposed to be strongest of all! Its laughable right now! :3 Better sounds design for it as well! It needs to be menacing! you need to feel the power with each hit!

  14. I am so looking forward to this game. But with that being said, here are my pros and cons:

    Pros
    1. The graphics are sick! They just scream Darksiders and are pleasing to the eyes, and this is only pre-alpha. Can’t wait to see how the game looks when it’s finished.

    2. I personally like Fury’s not so feminine running animation. It tells me she means business. A nice little subtle hint IMO.

    Cons
    1. The whip animations are too frontal. I feel like I’m not seeing enough of it when it’s a weapon that can fill the entire screen with its coolness. When I think of whips, I think area attacks or attacks that have a wide frontal area effect, or at least just be badass like how whips can look and feel in action. There weren’t enough of those attacks here, though I’m sure there will be more of such special attacks. It doesn’t help that the few enemies in any given area only invite frontal whip lashes more so than often. Why not put more enemies in the area in order to encourage us to use more area attacks.

    2. It’s obvious that boss took some, not a lot, of inspirations from Dark Souls, which is completely fine by me. And yet, the fight still felt lackluster. I feel like I wouldn’t have been engaged in it on the same level as DSouls. I hope they take care of the boss fights in the game just to make them fun. I’m not asking for anything creative or innovative.

    These are just suggestions of mine, and some may even be nitpicking, and I am well aware this just pre-alpha. But that’s how much I love this franchise, so I really want this to succeed after everyone thought it was doomed.

  16. What’s the point in releasing gameplay so early? People are assuming the final game will be like this when it obviously won’t be

    Probably the worst Darksiders game(in terms of gameplay). Killed the boss by whipping the tail? Need more executions. (for this boss, break his legs, grab its weapon and kill with it, something like this. Come on this is Darksiders, not BDSM). In combat, War is faster even though he is 2-3 times bigger. Death is much better in terms of combat. Agile, showy, and effective. By the way, according to previous games, the size of these horsemen is 5-6 times of human’s. (if we compare their size to the cars in Earth part in the game). And now one of the horsemen can move in the vents made by humans?
