The “its just cosmetic” argument comes from people who consider fashion (whether that be in real life or video games ) to be a signifier of status within an “in-group,” not as self expression. So the fact that everyone who bought the deluxe edition looks the same is a feature, not a bug
Sometimes I’ll buy deluxe editions if they’re on sale for cheaper than the base game, but that’s it.

Also I never hear it brought up, but the ‘it’s just cosmetic’ argument, as far as I recall, started mostly around games like TF2 adding new paid items to the game AT ALL, which was wildly controversial at the time on its own. After all, TF2 was a full price game back then; the idea that they were adding in microtransactions was, to most, a bitter pill to swallow. But the refrain was; “It’s just cosmetic”.
How did that warp into “It’s okay for game companies to charge you 60 extra bucks on top of the base price so you can dress up in an outfit I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to unlock in any other game”? Thank all the so called AAA games that normalized it, and the braindead consumers who lapped it up.
But hey? At least you can whack it to pictures of a scantily clad Asian woman; a feat which heretofore has been impossible before the illustrious Stellar Blade.
Oo, that’s a tough choice, can I list several? I liked Steins;Gate, and because I have no sense for quality I enjoyed the second season too. I love anything with a time travel theme, I’m a time travel junkie, but the mild transphobia does wear on me. Of the Sci Adv shows, I’d have to say Robotics;Notes is my favorite, and the one I want to rewatch again and again, but you kind of have to have seen Chaos;Head for the ending to make sense.
Currently running shows, I really like Delicious in Dungeon(Dungeon Meshi) Marcile is… just the best person.
If we expand our definition of anime to include ATLA, that’s got to be the all time fave, and I will also say I’m one of the four people in the world who thinks Korra was good too.

Deluxe Editions for Persona 5 and 3 Reload are really bad when it comes to giving you game breaking shit. You get the strongest Personas from the other games in your compendium that you can summon for free and they’re like level 90 with resistances to all elements and have big 1 shot attacks. You pretty much have to ignore them completely if you want the game to have ANY sense of challenge.
I rarely buy Deluxe Editions anymore, the Standard Edition of these shitty games are $70+

Steph missed out on one thing about the Stellar Blade premium reskin- on New Game Plus you have the chance to find recolors/variations of all the outfits you found on your first playthrough, including that premium outfit. And the New Game + version is white and blue as opposed to the base game’s black and red. There are TWO versions of the premium outfit that you get from playing the game that are better!! Unless you’re the kind of person with tacky taste that likes the idea of an all gold outfit don’t be like me and waste $10, just get the base game.
