The Reason Yandere-chan Lacks Emotions

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the idea of changing Yandere-chan’s identity from “emotionless girl” to something else. I’ve written out my thoughts here: https://yanderedev.wordpress.com/2017/06/16/the-reason-yandere-chan-lacks-emotions/ I’d appreciate it if you’d read that blog post before voting on the following polls:

Do you disapprove of Yandere-chan’s current identity as an “emotionless” character? http://poal.me/6p5kak

Which of these two identities would you prefer for Yandere-chan? http://poal.me/w3sgct

In your opinion, is it too late to change Yandere-chan’s identity? http://poal.me/kwi8n6

  1. Do whatever your the boss here

  2. I think yandere-chan’s original story is strikingly similar to the Greek story of the goddess Selene and Endymion.

Now the goddess Selene loved to watch this one guy Endymion sleep at night, she didn’t romantically love him or anything, it was more of a HUGE aesthetic attraction towards him (not romantic or sexual attraction). So she went back to Olympus up to Zeus, asking him to cast a spell on Endymion so she can have him forever.

So it being Ancient Greece where literally everyone kidnaps their wives and husbands, Zeus was like “alright cool” and made it so Endymion was immortal, but could never wake up from sleeping ever again, which Selene was totally cool with.

Selene’s love for Endymion was defined in Greek terms of mania love, instead of the traditional Eros love (romantic/ sexual feelings) (as Greeks had many other definitions of types of love instead of our basic type of sexual love, some include plutonic friendship love, natural love for one’s own child, etc). Mania love is instead: Often one sided love characterized by the emotional inability and a need to possess the beloved, the lover often loves an idea, not the person them self.

So that would explain as to why yandere chan could still be defined as the Traditional definition of a yandere, due to having a obsessive mania type love, only aesthetically being attracted to the thought of her senpai, instead of being attracted to senpai himself as a whole being.

Last thing I wanted to talk about, The mental illness I best like to classify yandere chan under (besides under born into psychopathy) is OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder, her obsession (re occurring addictive thoughts) is the thought of being around her Senpai and being with him forever, as her compulsions (re occurring addictive actions surfaced around the obsession) are to ensure her obsession becoming a reality, as in, well, killing off rivals and anyone else that gets in her way. Other compulsions you see her follow are following Senpai back to his house to ensure his safety, picking things out of his trash bin and putting it in her shrine for him, and lastly well his shrine in general.

  4. I always saw Ayano as a sad, quiet girl with no friends who felt empty for her entire life. She never left her home much to just do something fun or spend time with people or just enjoy the world around her. When you began to explain her and spoke about her backstory, I was elated. Please, please, please write what you’d like to write. Lots of people support you and so will I.

did anyone else notice the fungirl at 12:30? xD

  6. “Yandere-chan is a reflection of you and your choices. The only thing that all versions of Yandere-chan have in common is that they have the potential to do incredibly cruel things.”

Sounds like a thing all humans have in common 🙂

  7. No matter what you do, there will always be complaints. So in the end, just do want you want to do. It is your game after all.

  8. so, 8 girls like Senpai? (Senpai be lucky)
Also, isn’t it weird that Osana also calls him Senpai?

  9. “Maybe being thirsty but not able to drink” then senpai comes around and that thirsty hoe looks at him like a juice box

    what if senpai is gay

  11. maybe being emotionless could run in the family?

  12. it would be cool if normally the game is less saturated. Instead of when yandere chan walks into senpais aura and it turns pink, the game would actually become more saturated. i.e. yandere chan is starting to feel warmth, light, and emotion, like yandere dev said. it would also be cool if this emotion would gradually fade away the longer yandere chan is outside of his aura, which causes her to become more insane and more sloppy, thus making the game harder. it would also make sense because yandere chan will be forced to “stalk” senpai in order to remain sane.

  13. Kizana doesn’t have twin drills, she has twin *croissants*

  14. @yanderedev do what ever you want it’s your game, your work, your dream. Your fans will love whatever you do because we trust your own decisions, not ours

  16. At 12:30 you can see a silhouette of fun girl. It continues to flash.

  17. 7:42 well we all know she’s pretty darn thirsty…

  18. I think you should give her your backstory. Right now, its hard to connect or sympathise with her as a character. I myself, would love a backstory, it adds to another dimension to the game; makes it just that little bit deeper.

  19. You should have Yan-Chan’s mother come up with a word for the emptiness that they feel. If it’s a family condition then I feel like they would have a name for it.

  20. Talks to boy one time.
Snaps out of depression and needs him.
