Yeah it did. I really think the industry as a whole won outside of Xbox kind of floundering to a degree. They need to find or develop some exclusives to start improving. Honestly Persona 5, Resident Evil 7, AC:O, Horizon, Zelda, Mario, Cuphead, Divinity OS 2, etc has made this year probably one of if not the best years I can remember in gaming. The indie companies are still bringing their A game with even smaller titles like golf story, steamworld dig 2, etc. I don’t know if next year can top this year, but I hope it will with titles like RDR2, last of us 2, Metro Exodus (First ones were awesome), Monster Hunter World, Pokemon Switch if you like that, Far Cry 5, Sea of Thieves. This is really a great time to be a gamer. I just wish we had the big 3 instead of the big 2 1/2. I’m sure Microsoft will pick their games up but probably not early next year. Great year ahead!

Chuck Nv well cuphead which was funded by Microsoft won 3 awards and forza 7 wich is also under Microsoft won best racing game and both are console exclusive to xbox and horizon surprisingly didnt win any but i agree xbox does not have that new BIG triple A exclusive like horizon or Zelda they need to get on that

The world premiere reveals were really crap.
I wish his annual duel with Reggie was more climatic this year. Needed more awkward passive insults from Geoff.
Anyways this year was actually professional and well done I gotta say. Only real issue being that Geoff sounds dead inside and un-excited when he interviews people and such. Not saying he needs to be loud and annoying but he was very robotic and monotone.

I was rooting for P5 to win GotY, but I’d be lying through my teeth if I were to say BotW wasn’t also deserving of such a title. One can see the sheer joy on Aonuma’s face, and his ecstatic expressions put a big ol’ grin on my face as well. Congrats to the winners, and here’s to another great year for gaming!

Drewsefer89 Yeah I wish they didn’t do that. They should’ve at least recorded it and had it as an additional video people could locate. It seemed kind of low that they quickly went through multiple awards that many people voted on and probably would’ve liked to see on stage. Not sure what they would need to do to make that happen. It seemed like it was jam packed so it probably would have to be pushed to 4 hours long which isn’t the worst thing in the world as long as there isn’t filler.

+Remus I was joking, and yes, those kind of microtransaction are alright imo. They’re similar to what Ubisoft has done this year. You can get all the stuff in the game, it’s not competitive (so it doesn’t break the system), and what you can’t get is purely cosmetic. There are still some critiques I have regarding their model (eg. while you can get certain optional weapons in-game, they take an unrealistic amount of time to get), but overall, they did alright.
What EA has done is embarrassing though, really. Hiding a main character behind a virtual pay-wall, offering pay-2-win services, etc. Especially in FIFA, which nobody talks about because it’s a niche game: they make it so that you can spend 100$ and still not get the top few players on average. And better players keep appearing, which are even more expensive and limited. And there is a lot of money involved in this, as people buy and sell stuff. This is actually a casino, and EA cannot deny that.
