Real PC RPGs Are For Nerds (Commentocracy)

Duke Amiel Du H’ardcore has arrived.

These are real comments, written by real people, whose “elite gaming wisdom” are read aloud by an 18th Century aristocrat.

  1. So, some notes:

Thanks so much for the feedback. We’re aware of the echoey audio (we just secured a new room to film in, need to kit it out for sound) and that early typo. The perfectionist in me sees only the mistakes but I’m glad the vid went over well.

This is a weekly show, but it’ll run in seasons so as not to overdo it. It’s the first seasonal show we have planned. Loose Boys will be next (animation is taking longer than we arrogantly anticipated).

I’m super excited about the new weird *shit* we’re doing. Thanks to everyone and especially Patreon supporters for letting us continue to pull off stupid nonsense.

  2. God Jim this series is… this series is….. very good

  3. Wow. It’s like the toxicity of the Dark Souls community and PC elitists rolled up into one human-shaped figure and it learned how to type.

  4. While I don’t think all PC gamers are smug assholes, this doesn’t help my point (not Jim’s video but the dumbass messager)

  5. That was awesome. I laughed right the way through that, and point well made. I’ll look forward to more of this!

  6. Players of PC RPG’s are such casual scrubs.

Go play a tabletop RPG if you want a REAL RPG, you noob!
    ;p

  7. My problem lies with how some of the genre definitions have been diluted to the point they’re effectively meaningless. RPG’s are the biggest offender but it’s also exceptionally difficult to find a game labeled as a roguelike that has enough similarities to roguelikes that I actually enjoy them. Ultimately devs will create what they want to create but I actually want to find the games which interest me. From the perspective of someone who loves roguelikes it’s tiring to sift through 1000 carbon copy twinstick shooters with permadeath that are also apparently like dark souls for some incomprehensible reason just to find a single game that actually belongs to be associated with the genre.

  8. Damnit, Jim. You’ve just confused Randy Bitchford even more.

  9. NoLablesLeft Eldered

I am not a hardcore gamer. I am re-branding myself as a hardcopy gamer. In my 40’s and still get together with friends every week for a pen and paper GM crafted games. Thats right Paper, pencils, and real dice. This week is Shadowrun 4th edition. We are the real gamers not these techno-plebeians who freak when the power goes out. Real people, real life, real games.

  10. Okay…but Dark Souls isn’t that hard. I wish people would get off their high fucking horse because they’re able to play Dark Souls like they’re some special being of gaming mastery. Yo, if I can play and beat dark souls multiple times you surly aren’t special for beating them.

You may have beaten Dark Souls, but Kevin from school still took your lunch money and gave you a swirly every day. Stop taking it out on other gamers.

  11. I had no idea people still used the word noob

  12. Man its weird seeing Jim do a show out of costume.

  13. I am one of those” PC master race” freaks, but still FUCK YOU! To all of those who have posted those messages . Try to live a hard core life , like working 12h for minimum wage and raise two children and tham tell me that all we need is hard core games . i love my easy “noob ” games just fine.

  14. Fucking Christ, Jim.

This is incredible. You’re an incredible actor, and this is just… the greatest persona yet.

  15. This is fantastic! Glad you’re going to continue making more!

  16. Fucking hell, this was hilarious! The duke is becoming one of my favourite jimquisition characters.

  17. Jim, You need to make one of these on PC master race. And on console gamers as well.

  18. Can’t wait for Jim Sterling’s rendition of Farmer Refuted and You’ll be Back from Hamilton.

  19. Oh god I love that guy. At the same time, I want to join a revolution against him. Great job with a good character. Weakly, you say? That is something for me to look forward to. Big TX.

  20. I sincerely hope the author of this incredibly, painfully arrogant post sees this and feels REALLY dumb. BTW, I love Dark Souls and the Divinity series, AS WELL AS the “noob” games like Final Fantasy and Skyrim.
