Pokémon Legends: Arceus – Literally The Best Pokémon Game (Jimpressions)

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is what the Pokémon series has sorely needed. Quicker, more efficient, and far less of a waste of time. Best Pokémon game, easy!

  1. I love when video games just do The Thing

  2. You put into words my problem with the new remakes that I have failed to do for over a month. Thank god for jim

  3. Really hope they take what they did here and put it in the next mainline game.

  4. I’m hoping that all the love we’re pouring into Pokemon Legends: Arceus means that they’ll make more games in this style, but time will tell, the naughty bitch.

  5. Legends Arceus is also the only Pokemon game that really inspires me to complete the Pokedex as part of the main game. The story where you’re helping people coexist with Pokemon, the sidequests where people want to know about them, and the mechanics of the PokeDex all compell me to complete it in a way that previous main line games, where your main goal was beating the Elite 4, didn’t.

  6. It’s the first pokemon game I’ve been interested in in a long, _long_ time.

  7. Meanwhile at GameFreak head quarters:

“Sir, this one reviewer said 2/10 No Ekans”
“Then hurry and patch that purple fucker into the game so we can get it up to 10/10 then!”

  8. I really hope that this isn’t just a one off from them. They can build a lot off of what they’ve made with Arceus.

  9. I’ve put ~90 hours into this game and I’m *STILL* not tired of the little firework that shoots out of the pokeball when you catch something.

  10. I love how you’re deliberately not evolving your purple Wurmple, since that’s the closest you can get to Ekans in this game.

  11. Lovely to hear Steph being… positive about a game! To the extent I may well check this game out.

Some of Steph’s videos recently have been about very serious issues that she constantly highlights because those in power at various publishing companies don’t want us to know. These videos are by their nature more weighty and difficult (although most worthy of our time). So this feels like a lovely breath of fresh air! Cheers Steph!

  12. I haven’t even played the game yet, but I can still tell that this is a perfect template for a more interesting Pokemon going forward (assuming they finally add the ability to skip dialogue scenes and not just cinematics).

  13. Warms my heart to see you finally enjoy a Pokemon game.

  14. This is such a great time for me, it’s the first Pokemon game since X and Y (when i was in the final strokes of completing my living dex) where i haven’t needed to hunt out pokemon…but i still am! It took me 40 hours to complete the story just because i keep getting side tracked by doing my pokedex, or finding Alpha’s or finding shiny’s! It’s so SO good!

  15. I love how fun this game is. Almost completed the dex, and have to admit this is probably the longest I’ve tried to complete a pokedex before getting burnt out. My only major gripe being the money allocated to the studio is pennies, and even though “the majority of pokemon’s money comes from merch”, it’s still kind of gross to see an IP choose to deprive a game of resources to make sure profit is the highest it can be.

  16. “If it had ekans in it it would be perfect”
a phrase that rings true for basically anything

  17. I thought I was mad for also being down on the Alpha aspect of things. I don’t mind the idea of them from a narrative perspective, but if a system like that makes me feel less excited about the regular pokemon that I generally am very excited to get attached to, then it just sorta feels crappy all around to me. There should be more synergy there, I guess, but I’ve not a clue how they could do that.
