I still have my SNES that I purchased with my saved allowance in 1993. Unfortunately doesn’t work reliably anymore, and not well with modern televisions. Would have loved to get one of these even with the glaring omission of Chrono Trigger.
Actually Jim you’re wrong about the collectible thing because the snes is collectible because 1: limited quantities and 2: it has an official nintendo released copy of starfox 2 on it which never came out officially.

Go buy a raspberry Pi, install an emulation manager and all the roms you’d like.
Go 3D print a SNES/NES/Genesis/Whatever shell you want for it.
You now have a better version that can run most games.

Well, you are already behind in the news.
They already proved this issue was due to a 100.00 sniping bot that was sold around. These bots flooded the sites and locked everyone out of the sites and ripped thousands of stock. To the point 2,400 snes scalpers have been spotted on ebay already and it’s known many are holding copies for the holiday rush because a nes classic sold for 5,000 last year.
There was no shortage on the 3ds, wiiu, or even wii during release. Bots and scalpers are the ones boosting prices, not nintendo.
