IGN Removes Dead Cells Review Due To Plagiarism Accusations

Close Ad ×

IGN published a review for Dead Cells, but a side-by-side comparison with Boomstick Gaming’s review shows that the writer apparently thought they could get away with changing some words around and passing off someone else’s work as their own.

IGN’s had to take the review down, and we’re left wondering how someone could be so foolish.

IGN should fire dude and hire Boomstick.

  3. I don’t know a single person that trusts IGN reviews. This is why we need you Mr. Sterling.

  4. God, he even talks with the same cadence some of the time.

  5. A video game website can’t even take the time to write their own reviews.
    Wonderful.

  6. Almost 99% verbatim. I’ll just change a few words… no one will notice.

  7. Obligatory “can i copy your homework? Yeah but change it a bit etc. etc.” comment….

  8. IGN always comes across as the triple aaayyy of games journalism to me, mass appeal and echoing what gets results.

  9. Dr. Badguy Reviews

IGN – Standing for Imitation’s Gone Nuts.

  10. 3:01 looks like bluehole have someone else to sue.

  11. There's a starman waiting in the sky

Thanks to IGN I bet Boomstick channel will grow now

  13. Doesn’t surprise me. Whay a bunch of hacks.

  14. Jim, as a former game reviewer, do you like the games I like?

  15. the hatred that I feel for games media sites like ign, kotaku, eurogamer etc still makes me angry at ign for hiring someone like him though. Also, dead cells is great been playing it for about a month now and its perfect as a game you can play for 15-30 minutes at a time.

  16. I am dead against plagiarism which i will discuss on my new show timquisition

  17. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this either! About maybe a year ago now they copied a video from Steven Suptic and while it wasn’t a word-for-word plagiarism, it was _very_ noticeable. Everything from how they filmed it to Steven’s friends’ personalities were plagiarised.

I think it’s fair to say that this wasn’t a mistake as somewhat of a pattern is forming.

  18. What a surprise
