Gris – Merry Grismas (Jimpressions)

Gris is one of those indie games. You know the ones. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. This is a very good one of those ones. Y’know?

A platform game with mild puzzles and plenty of THEEEEEMES, a fantastic art style and soundtrack are really what brings it to life.

If this isn’t art I don’t know what is

  3. It’s just grey in Spanish man and yeah you can say it’s pronounced grease

  4. Gris is Norwegian for Pig

  5. I’m pretty sure you’re pronouncing it right.

  6. Its gris, as in gray in spanish

  7. I never came so fast… I’ve also never got to a Jimpressions so darn quick!

  8. This game looks beautiful ?.

  9. I never understood why some people get angry over this types of games, not liking or caring for them is fine we all preferences ( I don’t like strategy games)
But getting angry over them and people liking them is….
    Why?

  10. This one’s about depression.

    They all are.

  11. So basically what David Cage thinks he can do but this game does it better.

  12. It’s a bit too high brow for me…

  13. The habit many in the gaming community have (I’m not exempt), of valuing games in terms of (playable hours/cost) has really backfired on us. It means studios have dedicated themselves to stuffing as much filler and busywork into their games as possible, to make them 100+ hours. While that isn’t inherently bad, it’s important for games like this to do well, so that we still get titles that are trying to deliver a specific experience, rather than just be something to kill time with. I’m glad that GRIS is striking a chord with critics and players alike 🙂

  14. its from a spanish studio, so its pronounced gris, like you said the first time

  15. ViDeo gAMes CaN’T bE ArT

Also you can get some pretty good wallpaper by screenshotting at almost any point in this game

  16. I love me a beautiful artsy game about depression. But yeah you nailed it Jim, we got lots of that.

I wonder how an artsy game about uncontrollable joy would look/play. Oh snap… actually I think that idea may have just been the zenith of Journey. Whoops!

  17. … and that’s how she became the Fresh Gris of Bel-Air.

  18. Jim got all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.
    Pounding it… pounding it.

    Pounding it.

  19. Lord Somethingorother

This game makes you really feel like depression.

  20. You don’t seem to be the right person to explain this game justice. Skill Up did a very good job explaining it artistically, also he’s voice is soothing to listen to.
