I actually thought of a way NFTs could be good. Monolith soft could make an exclusive tiny crappy line of them to trade to square enix for the rights to xenogears! Squenix would be all over that deal and Monolith would get their IP back for free, then never touch NFTs again. We could actually get a modern remake of gears that is actually finished as the original sadly never got the chance to be and monolith can stop being extra vague referencing the game in their other games.
That is really the only positive I can think of though. Screw NFTs. All the sleezy used car and insurance salesman from the 80s and 90s movies never went extinct they became crypto bros.
And here I thought the whole point of NFT’s was that “y0u Achchualy oWn iT”. Yet if a corporate owned service goes down (gets taken offline on purpose, of course) you lose access to said NFT? I don’t even feel stupid for not understanding this shit. Fuck right off, scammers!
Why would you release an NFT on a centralized database. Traditional companies are just not getting it. Nobody will give a shit about this.
