Elden Ring And The Tiresome Dance Of Git Guddery (The Jimquisition)

Elden Ring is finally out, and with it has come the same circular discourse about accessibility and difficulty. We’re not playing this time.

  1. The slow realisation of a ladder being there made me chuckle lol.

  2. “Oh no, there’s a ladder! I hate the consequences of my own actions!”

    Classic Steph right there.

  3. Git Guddery is a wonderfully brilliant term, despite the practice being the exact opposite

  4. “Wait, they climb NOW??
    THEY CLIMB NOW!!”

I know this has always been a thing in souls games BTW, I just wanted to say that XP

  5. You know, that was an amusingly facetious introduction, but I think you raise a good point. Who cares if you’re good at playing a game if you’re not enjoying it? Games are supposed to be enjoyable. Not always the same way, you don’t enjoy silent hill 2 in the same way as saints row 2, but if you suck at a game and still enjoy it you’re doing as well in life as someone who git gudded

  6. “Git Gud” suffered the same fate as “PC Master Race” as being a joke that people took seriously, it is still a fun thing to say if aware it is a joke, otherwise people who say it become the joke.

  7. The most important part of cooperation and is that we can all work together to thank god for Steph.

  8. I’m glad Stephanie is still here doing the hard and tiresome work.

Btw, I love that selfie. It looks amazing

  9. I developed a chronic pain issue in my right arm and hand almost two years ago. Over time it has gotten worse, resulting in me not being able to hold a controller or mouse, so for almost two years I haven’t been able to play many games at all. (I only recently got some sort of diagnosis and I’m still in limbo over whether or not it’s something treatable.) I’d love if more games let you remap controls so I could favor my left hand and only have to occasionally put my right hand on the controller at all, but it doesn’t happen. Also, I appreciate easy modes since even without chronic pain, I am just not very good at playing video games, but I enjoy them a lot. How I enjoy video games and, in fact, that I get to enjoy them at all would not hurt anyone else who wants to play a more “pure” experience.

  10. That was a lovely selfie Stephanie, you’re one of the prettiest gamers out there and I hope you’re having fun with your new game 🙂

  11. I’m really happy with how much more accessible elden ring is, finally making summoning something you can do at anytime, no more boss runs, the spirit system, mind it’s not perfect, you still need internet and some bosses block summoning, but I am glad they opened the game up to more people

  12. That was truthfully a very good ending point about the shared pain. It does feel like hope is instilled when I know someone understands what I’m going through.

  13. Steph, I’m legitimately envious of your makeup and outfit in this one. You always look smashing, but you’ve really outdone yourself this time. Keep on rockin’ that non-binary finery.

  14. That ladder situation reminds me of how I thought I was being clever, running away from a group of mobs, climbing up a stack of grain bags and jumping onto a neighbouring tower …only to realize the enemies can do that too now, and that I was now stuck on a thin ledge with five soldiers out for my life.

  15. Just started the video but oh my god your makeup! Slay, girl, you look amazing.

  16. “There was a ladder…” that put me on the floor laughing for some reason. Timing, delivery, just the best kind of comedy with my morning coffee. Thank you Mx Sterling. Thank the Gods for you.
