People assumed Gabe Newell wouldn’t be a shitty human while handling video games? You peel back the goofy Santa beard and the layers of lard and you find nothing. No heart, no soul, just an empty husk who likes collecting knives and getting more money than his great great grandchildren deserve yet will wind up inheriting.
For the record, Jim fucking Sterling just has more and more layers of unbridled, awe inspiring magnificence the more you peel back from him. Thank god for Jim Sterling.

The bigger problem is that people are hoping for half life 3 as some kind of indication that valve still makes good games instead of just managing steam (badly).
And this announcement for what is, by any other name, a shovelware game, is essentially valve announcing they’ve given up on worthwhile game development, which makes people made because people still have faith in valve.
So yeah, don’t have faith in valve is the moral here.
I swear I’m one of the only people that was happy with Portal 2’s ending. Why do we need another?
Half Life 2 is still one of my top 5 favorite games, but i put the idea of HL3 to bed long ago. I would rather have a Portal 3 with maybe a sidestory that hints a wrap up to the Half Life storyline if at all. Also #shutupvalve needs to be a thing

I don’t know if Jim realized this when he said “just give the license to…”, but EA is waiting for that license with their money, salivating like a Golden Retriever when seing food
The Half Life series was just Valve playing around with their new source engine and showing off the cool new technologies they’ve added. It just so happened that letting a bunch of talented and passionate game developers loose to design a game around a new physics engine resulted in a good game.
There hasn’t been any new technologies released since then to justify a new Half Life game. Except for VR. We’ll probably see Half Life 3 VR alongside Portal VR once Steam VR matures, more people own Vives/Probably Vive 2 by then, and they’ve figured out the best forms of locomotion.
But just by being a VR game, it’s going to be a disappointment to 95% of people because the vast majority of people won’t have VR.
There’s gonna be a time where Jim gets so mad there’s just gonna be an entire episode of Skelton Warriors in a Jimqusition

You know I thought Medieval was a really fun game growing up with some great humor and an interesting idea. That said I really hope they work on the game some for the remaster. It was an early 3d plat forming game and I remember it’s controls being pretty horrible. I remember the camera being complete crap when trying to jump because it would shift mid jump. Which caused a problem in that the direction of your jump was dependent on the camera. Meaning you start pushing forward on the stick to jump but half way through it shifts to having to push back on the stick as the camera switches around to a front view or something along those lines.

At this point i would not want Valve to release a Half life game. (given their inability to govern their own store)
I would however love to see them licence it out to some smaller developer with no ties to EA or Ubisoft.. The Black Mesa people showed that people who love the franchise are more than capable of making great additions into the HL universe. And i would bet heavily on there being a lot of lovers of the HL saga out there, working in smaller studios..
So please Valve. Release the licence. Let Gordon go from your clutches, and into whatever future the G-man has in store for him.
