Bethesda Blocks The Sale Of A ‘Used’ Game On Amazon

Bethesda has threatened an Amazon seller to make him take down his copy of The Evil Within 2, claiming it was falsely labeled as new & unopened even thought it was new & unopened.

They utilized lawyers that specialize in taking down resellers while claiming they’re not going after used games. Yeah. It’s Bethetic.

  1. I can tell fallout 76 is gonna be trash but microtrasnactions hell. Get Ready Jim.

  2. -Fallout 4: We did not make many towns, you can make your own settlements now!
-Fallout 76: There aren’t any NPCs in the game, you’re the NPCs now!
-Fallout 5: We did not make the game, here is the Creation Kit, make it yourself!

  3. I’m pretty sure if you tried this shit in europe you’d find that any such attempted takedown would be highly illegal.

  4. Everything about this story is gross. I mean it’s the one thing the video game industry managed to constantly impress me with. How much they hate their customers. We thought the DLC pass was disgusting where they tried to make money off the same copy of the game twice now they literally track you down selling your copy of the game and attack you directly… not Amazon, not gamestop, not ebay… YOU.

The entire basis for this is the seller labeled it “new” because he hadn’t opened it. So then what’s the “new” section for? HOw could they verify ANY copy is “new”.

  5. So he’d have to open and play the game before he’s allowed to sell it? What kind of bullshit logic is that?

  6. “Bethesda can’t be any worse”
    Bethesda: “Hold my paid mods”

  7. Do we even own our games?

  8. Claiming it was falsely labeled as new & unopened even thought it was new & unopened, Bethesda has threatened an Amazon seller to make him take down his copy of The Evil Within 2. – Filip

  9. Bethesda seems to become worse and worse by the day, their games but also their practises

  10. When a studio as big as Bethesda has time for this, it smells like trouble.

  11. So much hubbub over a single copy of a game that Bethesda already made money on

  12. So if you buy a new game but can’t play it (because well, LIFE happens) you can’t resell it. That’s a real waste of money…

  13. Adaptive Manipulator

Well, look at it from Pete Hines’ perspective: he only has a Ferrari made of solid gold, and he can’t scrape up the funds to get a platinum Ferrari unless he stops unauthorized resales. There’s two sides to every story.

  14. The corporate tentacles are getting tighter guys. We pay more and more, for less and less, and we don’t even own shit anymore…

  15. ‘member when you bought a copy of a game, you OWNED that copy?
    I ‘membah.

Good thing I ain’t interested in Bethesda games anymore.

  16. I think this is worse than microtransactions! At least you can “not participate” in those. This is aggressive, anti-consumer bullying.

  17. Someone wants to be the next EA…

  18. This is shady as hell and as a big fan of Bethesda I can’t even defend this, there really is no reason this guy shouldn’t be aloud to sell this. But if you are going to insult Bethesda, insult Bethesda the amount of comments just calling their games shit and stuff is so pointless. Insult their shady practices, the evil within 2 is a pretty great game.

  19. I see they’re following Nintendo’s footsteps
