All Casuals Should Be Forced Back In Time (Commentocracy)

Save states? In MY Fire Emblem? The Duke won’t be having any of that.

Here’s something that was spread across multiple Miiverse posts, because it was important to say.

  1. Lmao i like this, also i lol’d at ww2 background

  2. The sad thing is I did grow up with those games, I did find a save file a luxury, and I did play a game over and over to finish it, and I still entirely disagree with these obnoxious idiots who can’t spell right or use the correct grammar, but still feel entitled to tell me how to enjoy my personal time. As a person who does play fairly hardcore, I only do so because I find it fun. If you don’t find playing hardcore fun, then play how you like. The entire point of gaming is to have some goddamn fun, not to run an imaginary contest. Casual gamers should be allowed to play however they want, because that’s the entire point of ‘gaming’.

Also, Jim, this is by far one of the best things you’ve ever come up with, and the Jimquisition was a godsend, so that’s quite a feat. Still proud to support you on patreon.

  3. You sound JUST like the elitists. It’s awesome.

  4. Bonelord Productions

Is it weird that I want to see you fight King Ross from Whatculture…?

  5. Fire Emblem games can actually be tricky with save states, if you save a state after you made a mistake (putting a unit in a bad position), that mistake will repeat itself because of how the game handles random numbers

  6. Jim was born for this role. He is fulfilling his lifetime achievement here.

  7. I swear all I was thinking of at the beginning of this was ‘The 4 Yorkshiremen’. Thank you!

  8. I think these people are deaf, or maybe blind. Since they don’t seem to see how much they sound like old, tired wankers when they say these things.

  9. Thank God for You.

  10. Where did the comments in the video come from by the way?

  11. Okay, I’ve only ever really played Fire Emblem Awakening, and I always played it on casual mode. I mean, I would reset if one of my guys died anyway so I didn’t louse them, so other then the feeling of fear that comes with “one of my guys might die forever and any moment” (witch I do understand people liking), I just don’t really understand people being so die hard about it. Like, they give you the option, no ones forcing you to play the easier way, stop being so butt hurt, it’s not healthy.

Honestly, I like the 18th century model of that Ferrari more than anything else they’ve put out. 2:00

  13. I was pretty much a child when the NES came out and sure, it had some tough games. My best example of that would be Ghosts ‘n Goblins. And seriously, fuck that game. But the NES gamepad had all of four directions and two buttons, A and B. Not exactly a high requirement in motor skills. Most of the stupidly hard games were that difficult due to poor design. We didn’t have memory sticks or hard drives back then, so you couldn’t save most games. You either finished them in one sitting or started over the next day. That’s a limitation of the hardware. Not every cartridge had a save battery like Zelda did, so they came up with a system where you could “save” the game by writing down a 32- or 64-character-long “code” (probably all the save data in HEX-to-ASCII format). Anyway, I just remember a lot of games sucking and not worth my time (yes, you had a lot of cash-grab games back then, and no internet or honest game reviews anywhere–thank God for you, Jim). I don’t remember many games being so good AND so hard that I had to “get good.” Mega Man was easy.

  14. wow, I gotta say, that was really painful and annoying to listen to. Almost worse than the guys you are criticizing lol. Idk how long I will stick around for this series of content jim.

  15. That wig… I need one. It is histarical!

  16. Love the interjection of the 4 Yorkshiremen sketch by Monty python their Jim. Next level references

  17. Everyone crying and bitching about hard NES, SNES, Genesis, Neo-Geo etc. games should also keep in mind that even PS1, Saturn, DC, PS2, GC and Xbox games are generally much harder than the AAA games we got in 7th gen and get now w/ PS4 and XBO. In fact, quite a few of those games are harder than some of the hardest 2D 8/16-bit games I can think of. So I do wonder why the cryfest only applies to those 2D games, and not early-gen 3D games that were considerably difficult for their time or would be for a first-timer playing them raw (Resident Evil 1 for example).

It’s *almost* as if there’s a bias going on here….*hmmmmm*….

  18. I think he does a tad much for the lipstick and should stick to maybe making a lil ‘heart’ with the lipstick. Otherwise, hilarious as usual!

  19. For all the talk of “Filthy Casuals” ruining gaming, it is the “hardcore” player that’s RUINED gaming with the cheating, hurling verbal abuse when they’re losing, and rage quitting. Oh yeah, and let’s not forget about the incessant bitching and whining and denigrating other gamers for not playing the game the way it “should” be played

  20. I find it hilarious that some gamers who are at my age are starting to morph into the stereotypical image of a father in the 1950’s saying to his kid, “You all have it so easy compared to when I was young. It is making you soft! In my day I had to travel through 5 miles of snow on foot just to get to school while avoiding wolves!” Apparently this mentality that any older generation has thinking they were so much tougher then the newer generation is just baked into the human psyche regardless of the time period.
